"I thought it wrong to conclude my artistic career and not to sing in St.-Petersburg a single time", the singer said.

The singer explained his forthcoming retirement saying that it is time to do so at his age. Besides, he wants to spend more time with his beloved daughter Alice who has just turned two years old. He devotes to her education much more time than he devoted to his daughters from his first marriage.
In St.-Petersburg Luciano Pavarotti performed parts from operas, classical compositions and Neapolitan songs. He brought along the conductor Leone Magiera who by now has been his friend for half a century. Pavarotti introduced to the public his niece Simona Todaro whom he has severely criticized for many years before he was convinced that she had really made progress and become a good singer.
The audience greatly enjoyed the concert. They gave a standing ovation to the great musician.
